Home / Mrs. Beaumont retires

Return to Events.

It was a day of mixed feelings on the last day off term, as we said goodbye to Mrs Beaumont, the school finance officer as her long association with our school came to end on her retirement.

Mrs Beaumont’s eldest daughter was one of the first children to attend Upperwood when it opened  over 30 years ago, and since then Mrs Beaumont has had various roles connected with school. Firstly she was involved in the PTA, as her 3 children came to the school, and then she worked as a Teaching assistant. After that she became School secretary, and finally moved on to her present job as finance officer a few years ago. She has also served as a governor for many years, so Upperwood will certainly miss her very much.

We had a special farewell assembly where we sang Any Dream will do, and Mr Budd talked about Mrs Beaumont’s time at Upperwood, using a painting to show her journey through the years. This made her smile!

When it came to giving her gifts, everyone especially Mrs Beaumont was very excited. We all waited eagerly as she opened them one by one. She said it was like Christmas all over again! She received from staff,  a pack of Mars bars (her favourite sweet) , a lovely Upperwood vase and a day quad biking which she can’t wait to use!!

Her gift from the children was met with a gasp as it was a voucher for her favourite shop B and Q! Mrs Beaumont said she spent a lot of time in there, and was looking forward to buying something for her garden! She also received a lovely watch.

The FOCUS group presented her with some beautiful flowers. By this time she was a little tearful, as she thanked everyone and looked back on her time here.

It was a lovely day and we wish Mrs Beaumont a very long and happy retirement.  We will not forget her kind-heartedness and will all miss her.

Having said this there is a rumour going around that she may be seen in the school office a few more times yet!
